A Message from our Commissioner

The Sacramento Zoological Society now charters a family of Scouting that comprises a traditional Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop, and Venturing crew. From a strong Land Park pack (Pack 136), families with boys approaching Boy Scouting age formed the nucleus of a new Boy Scout troop (Troop 136) in 1987. Similarly, families with boys or girls approaching Venturing age recently formed the beginning of a new Venturing crew (Crew 136) at the Sacramento Zoo. The catalyst of families already committed to Scouting has provided a source of youth organizations strongly supportive of the Sacramento Zoo.

American Kestrel Partnership

Crew 136 and the Sacramento Zoo to work together to build homes for the American Kestrel Peregrine. Together we will be monitoring these nests as we try to provide a safe home for these wonderful birds.

Crew 136 is proud to announce that Darrington Evans has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Crew 136 has had several members who are Eagle Scouts but Darrington is the 1st to reach this ultimate rank through the Crew.

As many of you know, only about 2% of those that join scouts will obtain this rank so Darrington’s achievement is truly special. If you see him make sure to congratulate him on such a fine accomplishment.

You can now go to the Eagle’s Nest link at the top of the page where Darrington will lead the way for others to follow.
